At Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors we are strengthening our legal team once more with the appointment of commercial property specialist Joy Hancock.

An Associate Solicitor, Joy will be based at our Uttoxeter office, and brings with her extensive experience in the property sector having previously worked at Grindeys and Knights solicitors.

She has a passion for landlord and tenant matters, property portfolio work, property sales, acquisitions, financing and all aspects of asset management, having originally considered becoming a surveyor as a career until the property market flatlined.

Joy said: “I originally studied for a BSc Honours degree in estate management, but after graduating the property market collapsed so I began temping as a legal secretary.

“From that I was offered the opportunity to qualify as a Legal Executive, then I carried out a law conversion course at Staffordshire University and qualified as a solicitor.

“I came to Bowcock & Pursaill as I’ve done business with several of the partners here and I love the fact that it’s a really friendly team here. The firm is progressive but has remained true to its core professional values which means a lot to me.”

While nationally the UK property market is being labelled as fragile, Joy says it’s currently business as usual in Staffordshire as clients still consider property an essential part of their pension portfolio.

She added: “Originally we weren’t sure what impact Brexit would have on the property market, but while interest rates remain low we’re not feeling the full impact of those external forces as people still feel property is the best place to invest their money.

“I’ve worked with many of my clients over several years as I thrive on building strong working relationships with them, being proactive for them and understanding their expectations.

“Any issues they know they can pick up the phone and speak to me, and it’s lovely when clients keep coming back and recommend you to others as you do feel genuinely appreciated.”
