Staff at Bowcock & Pursaill all donned their Christmas jumpers on Friday for the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day.
Silly sweaters were on show across all of our offices in Leek, Uttoxeter, Eccleshall and Hanley for the day in return for a donation, and the event has been widely supported by celebrities from Peter Andre and Holly Willoughby to tennis star Andy Murray and Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington.
So far the national annual event has raised more than £530,000 and the cash raised helps fund Save the Children projects around the world with essentials like healthcare, education, protection and food.
Emma Gould, a paralegal at the firm who chose the cause this year, said: “As a firm we always try and take part in several fundraising events throughout the year, but this is the first year we’ve taken part in Christmas Jumper Day.
“It seemed like a fun way to raise money for a very good cause, and I know our clients who came in really enjoyed seeing our natty knits and lots of them made donations too.
“I’m still gathering in the donations at the moment, but hopefully we’ll have raised over £100 for Save the Children.”

In April 2024, there will be significant changes to UK redundancy rules. Currently, employers have a legal obligation to offer suitable alternative employment, where a vacancy exists, to an employee who is on maternity leave, shared parental or adoption leave, if their job is at risk of redundancy. Currently there is no specific right for carers to take leave. However in 2023, the Carer’s Leave Act 2023 made provision for employees who have caring responsibilities to take at least one week of unpaid carer’s leave per year.
