Fees

Our fees for bringing or defending claims in the Employment Tribunal depend on the complexity of the case.

Typical fee ranges (excluding VAT) are as follows:

  • Simple cases: £3,500 – £6,000
  • Medium complexity cases: £7,000 – £10,000
  • High complexity cases: £11,000 – £50,000

We will always provide a tailored cost estimate at the outset, based on the specific circumstances of your matter.

What Is Included

The above fee ranges typically include:

  • Taking your instructions and advising on the merits of your case
  • Reviewing relevant documentation
  • Preparing or responding to a claim
  • Engaging in pre-claim conciliation through ACAS where appropriate
  • Exploring settlement and negotiating throughout the process
  • Preparing witness statements
  • Preparing documentation for hearings
  • Liaising with barristers where required

Additional Costs

In addition to our fees, you may incur additional costs where specialist advocacy is required.

Barristers’ (counsel) fees typically range from £800 to £1,000 plus VAT per day for straightforward matters, although more complex hearings may incur higher fees depending on the seniority of counsel and the nature of the case.

We will always discuss and agree any additional costs with you before they are incurred.

Factors Affecting Costs

The overall cost of your matter may vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • The complexity of the legal issues involved
  • The number of witnesses
  • The volume of documentation
  • Whether preliminary hearings or additional applications are required
  • Whether the case involves allegations such as discrimination or whistleblowing

Timescales

The time required to resolve your matter will depend on the stage at which it is concluded.

  • If a settlement is reached at an early stage, this may take approximately 2 to 4 weeks
  • Cases progressing to a full tribunal hearing typically take between 3 and 6 months
  • More complex matters may take up to 12 months or longer

These timescales are estimates only, and we will provide more accurate guidance as your matter progresses.

Transparency and Costs

We are committed to providing clear and transparent pricing.

At the outset of your matter, we will provide a cost estimate and explain what is included in our fees. We will keep you informed of any changes and discuss any additional work or costs with you before they are incurred.

No additional charges will be made without your agreement.
