If you are in the middle of a conveyancing transaction or even if you propose to sell or purchase in the very near future you will be aware that the restrictions that have been placed up on us all by the government in response to the Convid-19 outbreak will have an impact on you.

The severity of the impact will very much depend on your individual transaction however on the whole as everyone is in the same boat most transactions will proceed but they will just take longer from the date you agreed the sale until the day you complete.

The government advice to stay at home means that unless you are chain free and moving into an empty property you are likely to experience some delay.  Presently you are not allowed to move if you are in a chain and therefore will be moving into a house that has been vacated on the day of completion, this is due to the risk of infection spreading.  You will also find it more difficult to obtain the assistance of removal companies.

If you are buying a new build you will find that in many cases whilst the developer is willing to continue with construction, they are not able to do so because they are unable to get the supplies of materials they need.

Whilst this does seem rather gloomy you should remember that your solicitors are still working hard for you in the background to make sure that when you are able to proceed that you are ready.

If you have any concerns, then please call or email us. We are here to help.  You will find a link to the government guidance below.

The Government has released some guidelines which may be worth reading here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/government-advice-on-home-moving-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreakbut if you’re in need of a little more reassurance or advice, please don’t hesitate to contact our conveyancing team here https://www.bowcockpursaill.co.uk/services/legal-services-for-you/residential-property/#_service-team
