Property solicitor Katie Nixon has been promoted to the role of associate solicitor here at Bowcock & Pursaill.
Katie, a Staffordshire University law graduate, joined us in August 2015, and is based within our Eccleshall office in Stafford Street which opened in 2015.
Firm partner, Rob Fearnley, said: “Katie’s promotion is very well deserved, as she has done a great job in taking our Eccleshall office from a standing start to a busy office.
“As a firm we place great importance on recognising the experience and talent of our staff, and the essential part they play in our reputation as a business and our success.
“I hope this is one of many successful career milestones for Katie and that she enjoys a long and successful career here at Bowcock & Pursaill.”
Katie said: “Eccleshall is a lovely town to work in and I really enjoy being based in our office there.
“The local community and business community have been extremely supportive ever since we opened, and the office is perfectly placed for people to drop-in to see me, so it’s quite informal.
“We’re really busy at the moment as property transactions do tend to peak between now and July, so I’m really pleased with how the business has grown since we started there.”
In addition our Eccleshall office offers the full range of legal services available from Bowcock & Pursaill for both businesses and individuals, including specialist advice on farm property and agricultural matters, equine law, tax planning, wills and probate.

In April 2024, there will be significant changes to UK redundancy rules. Currently, employers have a legal obligation to offer suitable alternative employment, where a vacancy exists, to an employee who is on maternity leave, shared parental or adoption leave, if their job is at risk of redundancy. Under the Employment Rights Act 1996, the Neonatal Care Act will be introduced to support employees who have a newborn baby receiving palliative or medical care. Currently there is no specific right for carers to take leave. However in 2023, the Carer’s Leave Act 2023 made provision for employees who have caring responsibilities to take at least one week of unpaid carer’s leave per year.
