Clients visiting our Hanley office at Festival Park may well have spotted a new face among our legal team.

Intern Christina Ioannou applied to come and spend her legal placement here at Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors, and is currently in her third year of studying law at Bournemouth University.

Originally from Stoke-on-Trent, Christina has been supporting and shadowing our Hanley staff, helping with a wide variety of legal matters from residential conveyancing to litigation matters to resolve disputes.

Christina says: “I’m originally from Stoke-on-Trent but left to study for my degree, and as part of that I’m carrying out this placement with Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors for 37 weeks.

“I’ve always had a passion for law as I studied government and politics and law at college. Law drew me in as I like being able to help people with their legal problems.

“I wanted to come and work at Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors because I was impressed with the amount of community and charity work they do. That was something which stood out for me, as I like that they support the communities they work in as not a lot of legal firms do that.

“Since joining the team here I’ve been involved in land registration and litigation matters supporting Tim Wolley, and I’ve been supporting Heather with conveyancing matters such as purchases and sales.

“I’m really interested in land law matters, which is something partner Catherine Whittles specialises in here, so that’s the area of law I’d like to go into.

“Working within a firm is different to what I expected, and it’s been interesting to see the kind of land law matters coming in and how they’re dealt with.”
