Law firm supports charity Easter campaign

Bowcock & Pursaill Solicitors stepped up to donate 50 Easter eggs to families in need after an appeal by charity Home-Start Newcastle Borough.

The charity offers practical and emotional support to families, and appeals to groups and businesses every year for Easter egg donations which they distribute across the area to help make the holiday a little sweeter.

Tim Wolley, a partner here at Bowcock & Pursaill based at our Festival Park office, co-ordinated the donation having become a trustee with the charity a year ago.

He said: “I met the Home-Start team and thought it was a wonderful charity to support as they offer help to young families.

“I think if you can step in at those early stages it’s so important and has a far greater impact, as hopefully it prevents other issues arising for young people in later life.

“As a trustee I also try and help them with any legal matters, and the group work so hard to raise funds through a range of activities from race nights to table top sales, so we were more than happy to help them with this appeal.”

Sarah Jacobs, scheme manager for Home-Start Newcastle Borough, said: “Every year we appeal for egg donations, and we were delighted when Tim and Bowcock & Pursaill came forward to help.

“We can always find homes for Easter eggs, as we work with families throughout Newcastle who have all sorts of issues, not just families facing deprivation.

“At Christmas we run a similar annual appeal for Christmas present donations which is usually very well supported.

“This year is extra special as Home Start has been going for more than 40 years and our Newcastle branch is celebrating 20 years, so we’re planning to take a coach load of families to Chester Zoo this year as part of our celebrations.”
